WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR SESSION
Your first session typically lasts about an hour and includes a comprehensive discussion, assessment, and planning of your therapy. Depending on your needs, further assessment may be required before therapy begins. Therapy sessions may involve physical activities, emotional coping strategies, and practical techniques to use at home. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Fees can be claimed directly from your medical aid, though available benefits depend on your specific plan. Any outstanding amounts remain the patientās responsibility. Payment can also be made by cash or card. A formal referral is not required, though it can be helpful to bring any relevant reports or previous assessments. Our practice provides occupational therapy for adults living with persistent pain, with a holistic approach that considers physical, psychological, and sensory factors. We have a strong focus on understanding and addressing psychological risk factors and mental health, as well as sensory awareness and processing, which can significantly impact daily function and quality of life. Using evidence-based strategies and drawing on advanced training in interdisciplinary pain management and sensory processing, we work collaboratively with clients to identify their unique challenges and goals. We support clients to build resilience, manage symptoms, improve functional capacity, and safely return to work or other meaningful roles.
