Dr W. Adriaan Liebenberg
Director and Clinical Governance Lead

Dr Liebenberg is a registered neurosurgeon and Director of The Health Collective. In his role as Director and Lead Clinician of The Pain Collective, he is responsible for strategic oversight, clinical governance, and the development of interdisciplinary pain services across the organisation.
His clinical background includes neurosurgery and interventional pain management. He contributes to the establishment of clinical standards and supports collaboration across medical and allied healthcare disciplines.
Dr Liebenberg serves on the council of PainSA, the Southern African chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain, and has contributed to academic publications in neurosurgery and pain-related fields.

Joey Breedt

Joey Breedt oversees operational management, systems development, and organisational sustainability across The Pain Collective. Her role includes operational planning, financial oversight, technology integration, and quality assurance.

Linda Hiemstra
Chief Clinical Officer

Linda Hiemstra is an occupational therapist and academic clinician responsible for clinical governance and interdisciplinary standards across The Pain Collective.
Her role includes oversight of care pathways, outcome measurement, clinician education, and alignment with current evidence-based practice. She continues to work clinically with individuals experiencing persistent pain and contributes to postgraduate education and research.
Linda is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Cape Town and serves as President-Elect of PainSA.

Dr Izelle Taljaard

Dr Taljaard is a medical practitioner and leads compliance, ethical governance, and quality assurance across The Pain Collective. Her responsibilities include regulatory alignment, clinical risk management, and the development of systems that support professional standards of care.
She also provides non-surgical, multidisciplinary pain management within her clinical scope and contributes to clinician education and patient information initiatives.

Dr Elze-Mari Greyling

Dr Greyling is a medical practitioner with experience across general practice, anaesthesia, and interventional pain management. As Chief Interdisciplinary Officer, she is responsible for facilitating collaboration between medical and allied healthcare disciplines.
Her role includes protocol development, clinician support, and the integration of interdisciplinary approaches to pain management. Where clinically relevant, she contributes to genetics-informed care planning.

Dr Andrew Liebenberg

Dr Andrew Liebenberg is a Family Physician and GP Anaesthesiologist with clinical experience in South Africa and Canada. He contributes to interventional pain services and participates in clinical governance through his role on the Clinical Committee.
His background includes family medicine, anaesthesia, and image-guided procedures. He currently consults at the Paardevlei Pain Clinic and Cure Day Hospital.

Dr Ronel Hattingh
Clinical Committee Member
MBChB (UFS, cum laude), Dip Anaesth (CMSA), Cert Sedation & Pain Management (UFS)
Dr Hattingh oversees sedation services and theatre protocols across The Pain Collective. Her responsibilities include patient safety, procedural standards, and coordination of sedation-related care.
She brings experience in anaesthesia and emergency medicine and contributes to clinical governance and quality assurance through her role on the Clinical Committee.
