About Dr Lize-Maré Steenkamp
Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working in primary healthcare, occupational medicine, travel medicine and surgical assisting, always with the goal of providing compassionate, evidence-based care that considers the whole person.
Joining the Pain Collective marks an exciting new chapter in my professional journey in the management of patients living with chronic pain. My approach focuses on understanding each patient's unique circumstances and developing personalised treatment plans that combine medical, rehabilitative and lifestyle interventions where appropriate. I believe that successful pain management is built on collaboration, clear communication and empowering patients to actively participate in their care.
Outside of medicine, my greatest joy is my family. I am happily married and a proud mother of two sons who are both currently studying at university. Supporting them as they build their own futures has been one of life's greatest privileges. I also enjoy music and is part of a Chamber Choir and love making candles and walking along the beach.
Whether caring for patients or spending time with those closest to me, I value meaningful relationships, compassion and lifelong learning. I look forward to walking alongside patients as they navigate the challenges of chronic pain and helping them improve both their function and quality of life.
